Class Descriptions

Excellent classes to BEGIN a yoga practice & perfect the fundamentals.

 

BASICIf you're a beginner struggling with downward dog or a more advanced student perfecting your shoulder stand, the Basic class is an excellent way to refine your understanding of the fundamentals, while learning proper alignment to keep your body safe.

 

 

YIN YOGA—This practice involves holding poses for several minutes to safely open the connective tissue of the body.  Yin postures offer a good entry-point if you are new to yoga or an excellent addition if most of your exercise is focused on moving and strengthening muscle. 

ADVANCED classes for those interested in a vigorous practice.

 

VINYASAThis class includes vigorous flowing sequences, arm balances, inversions, partnered with yogic teachings and commentary, chanting, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment,

and relaxation.

 

DHARMA YOGA VINYASAAn invigorating Vinyasa class peppered with some of the tips, tricks & techniques taught by yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra.

 

 

INTERMEDIATE options for yogis looking to go beyond Basic.

 

ALL LEVELSAn excellent bridge between Basic & Vinyasa, the All Levels class allows the student to work at their own pace while exploring an asana flow combining breath with different postures, from balancing to inverting. Come and explore!

 

COMMUNITY CLASS—Our gift to the community. An All-Levels where each student can practice according to their own ability.

SPORTS YOGAWhether you’re a runner, swimmer, golfer, biker, or just love feeling good, this is the class for you! The focus is on the balance between strength and flexibility, while leaving out the rest of the “yoga stuff.”

All are welcome.

 

General Policies

For many, our yoga center is a cherished refuge, and our yoga classes a rare opportunity to settle into a safe environment free from distraction. As a way of intentionally fostering that sacred space for all, below are our general policies for class attendance:

  • Hamsa Yoga has an age minimum policy of 10 years old, with a guardian. 

    • We ask that students refrain from bringing children to classes who are under the age of 10.

  • As a way of honoring members of our community with allergies, please refrain from bringing pets to the yoga center.

  • We ask that practitioners refrain from wearing perfumes or other strong fragrances.

  • We also ask that all practitioners practice good hygiene and general physical cleanliness (shaucha) when coming for class.
